What we collect, and what we do with it

Short version: an email address if you ask for one thing, your business name and city if you run a check, and nothing else. We do not run analytics, we do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell anything to anyone. Last updated 27 July 2026.

No tracking

There is no analytics script, no advertising pixel, and no third-party cookie on this site. We do not set cookies at all. We cannot tell you how many people visited a page, because we do not measure it.

What we collect, and why

WhatWhenWhyKept for
Business name and cityYou run a free checkTo ask the AI assistants about that business and store the result so the page can be reloaded and sharedIndefinitely, unless you ask us to delete it
Email addressYou unlock a full check resultTo link a later purchase to the right report, and to deliver itIndefinitely, unless you ask us to delete it
Email address and payment referenceYou buy a Fix PackTo deliver the report, issue refunds, and keep records of a saleAs long as tax and accounting rules require
IP addressYou submit the check formRate limiting only — three checks per hour per addressAbout two hours, then it expires automatically
Business name, city, website domainYou submit an opt-outTo keep the business suppressed permanently, including against future runsIndefinitely — this is what makes removal stick

Two things we deliberately do not keep

Opt-out email addresses. If you give an address when requesting removal, it is used once to send the confirmation and then discarded. There is no database column for it. This is deliberate: an opt-out form that quietly builds a sales list is indefensible, and the surest way not to misuse the data is not to have it.

Card details. Payment happens entirely on Stripe. Your card number never reaches this site.

Who else sees your data

When you run a free check, the business name and city you enter are sent to the AI providers below as part of the question, because that is what the check is. Your email address is never sent to them.

That is the complete list. We do not share data with anyone else, and we do not sell it. There are no advertisers.

Information about businesses on the index

Pages about a business contain only what an AI assistant said in a dated, stored answer: whether the business was named, in what position, and the verbatim sentence. We do not publish opinions about quality, and we do not compile personal information about the people who run these businesses.

If you are, or represent, a business named here, you can have it removed at /opt-out. That takes effect on submission, without verification and without anyone following up. The underlying model responses are retained as the evidence behind claims we previously published, but nothing is published from them once a business is removed. If you want those deleted too, ask and we will do it.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Write to privacy@aianswerindex.com and we will action it — normally within a few days, and within 30 days at the outside. We do not require you to prove a legal basis for asking.

If you are in the UK or the EU, our lawful basis is legitimate interest for maintaining a public factual record, contract performance for delivering something you bought, and consent where you handed us an address voluntarily. You can object to any of it at the address above, and you may complain to your local data protection authority.

Security and location

Data is stored on Cloudflare infrastructure and may be processed in the United States and elsewhere. Access is limited to the one person who operates this site. This is a small operation run by an individual, not a company with a security department — we have kept the amount of personal data collected deliberately small partly for that reason.

Children

This is a service for business owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes with it. Anything at all: privacy@aianswerindex.com, or support@aianswerindex.com for general matters.

This policy describes what the software actually does — it was written against the code, not from a template. It is not legal advice and has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
